A music school in Auckland
We teach keyboard and guitar to children aged 5 to 12, in small groups. Small enough that you will know everyone by name, and that we will notice the week your child goes quiet.
Why we started
Lessons a child looks forward to
The idea to start Joyful Art of Music was to build a school where children build a lifelong love for music.
So we teach in small groups, to help students learn in a collaborative environment that is fun.
We have stayed deliberately small. Two instruments, a handful of teachers, and a room in Penrose with free parking at the door.

Learn through Play
Music is explored through games, movement, singing and hands-on activities, helping young learners build musical skills naturally and joyfully.
Small groups, Big participation
Small-group sessions give every child plenty of opportunities to participate, experiment and build confidence while learning alongside others
Creativity at the Center
Children learn through creating. We encourage improvisation, musical choices and creative expression from the very beginning.
Music for Life
We focus on more than musical skills. Our sessions nurture confidence, listening, collaboration and a lasting enjoyment of making music.

The best way to judge a music school is to sit in one of its lessons. (A trial is $12 for 20 minutes, credited to your first term if you carry on.)
